I was marked. I am employed in law enforcement and the Elers told me since I was armed they had to mark me. To protect the congregation. ? An elder told me when they were going to give a "special needs" talk. I think they were surprised that I showed up for the meeting to hear that, since I was a police officer, I was "unexemplary". I really didn't care but my children were ignored and shunned because of it. Kids are tough and they forgive easier than I did but they also don't ever forget. My son and daughter, now adults with their own families, are not JW's.

Blackmail is gaining or attempting to gain anything of value or compelling
another to act against such person's will, by threatening to communicate
accusations or statements about any person that would subject such person
or any other person to public ridicule, contempt or degradation. -

Question about disfellowshipping/disassociation
by TweetieBird inif someone sends an email or text to an elder telling them that they are involved in a wrongdoing and not planning on stopping and then does not respond to reply emails or text messages from that elder, what will happen?
can the elders announce at a meeting that so and so is no longer a jw or do they have to inform them first?
i have a friend that did this and 2 elders came by her work to see her but she wasn't there, then they tried to call her at work but she told her co-workers to tell them that she was in a meeting.

Maybe if they're threatened with a lawsuit. I've seen that work. They run. ... and you're right it's "rubbish"... "seriously".

The Lyin Kings at your local Kult Hall can do whatever they want to keep the flock in-line. A local "judicial" circus has absouletely nothing in common with justice, or truth, or common sense. Been there. Done that. Never again!

How Many Here Were Turned Down For "Privileges" Because You Weren't "Exemplary"?
by minimus inour odd body of elders would not allow the one person who wanted to mow the lawn at the kingdom hall to do this because he was not getting 10 hours in a month, he was only getting in 7. seriously.. were you ever told you couldn't have a "privilege" because you didn't measure up to their lofty standards?.

Growing up around the Witnesses (my mom & dad were hard line JW's) it was just easier as a teen to fall in the line. I had some friends my age in our local congo and we used service as a way (an excuse) to be able to get together and drive around. By the time I hit my late teens I was reading at the book study and for the WT, giving prayer at book study and meetings for service, etc. I was on their track and then, in 1980, I did something I had always dreamed about. I became a law enforcement officer. I used my bible trained conscience deciding to follow this career path even though it was immediately apparent that the WT Corp didn't like the idea of police officers in their congregations.
NEW LIGHT: In 1983 (07/15 wt) Corp decided that being a law enforcement officer was unexemplary and I had six months to quit my career or I would not be, well, exemplary (no more being able to read the publications at meetings or represent the congregation in prayer or pioneer, etc). No solid bible basis for this BS, just because we say so.
I didn't quit and so the local and area congregation elders gave "marking" talks to warn the Bro & Sisters of my sinful, errant way. WT Corporate didn't base this new light on anything in the bible but evidently decided they thought it was a bad idea to be a police officer where you must carry a weapon, even if it's to protect a human life and enforce law, and so any exemplary Christian would quit a job like that and start pioneering. I didn't. Since I was being treated like a sinner I decided WTH and grew a well groomed beard to go along with my public safety career. No more privileges for me. Thank you. I mean it. Thank you GB.

I also was raised as a JW. My Dad was an elder, two of my brothers were elders and one was a ms. I got out in the past two years and it's incredible how many good, truly good, honest, happy people there are "in the world". My wife and I have an on-going joke between us that when we see someone that just looks mean, or miserable, one of us says, "they must be a JW" or "I think they're studying with JWs". They are not a happy group of people and in spite of what they preach they don't have a great deal of LOVE among themselves.

Jury, err, Judicial Committee Nullification
by Open mind injust had a brain fart and i don't think i'll actually try this, but see what you think.. .
i made myself a promise that i was done serving on jcs roughly 2 years ago.
and, with the exception of a rubber stamp reinstatement charade, i've kept that promise.

Too Late Uzbekistan.
There is nothing, I REPEAT NOTHING, "judicial" about a JW judicial committee. These are a usually a group of ass kissers with a wealthy or charismatic PO as their leader. They already have their a decision made before they go into the dog & pony show circus. It's a way, a path, a strategy, to keep a few old ladies that are still attending meetings in line so that the PO and his groupies can pay the light bill and keep the Hall open a little bit longer...

More Quotes in the WT from Supposedly Rank and File bros and sisters?
by youngapostate ini've noticed that lately (maybe as of a year ago or so) there have been personal quotations in every single study article.
it seems a brother or sister always sends in the exact quotation that would fit perfectly into an article.
has anyone else noticed this?.

"Questions from Readers" have, at times, been about "new light" information but they're in the same mag as the article which sheds the "new light" which is proof that the "Questions from Readers" is crap.
